Downtown / The Peninsula
South of Broad, Cannonborough-Elliotborough, Wagener Terrace, Hampton Park Terrace. Historic single-house homes, condos, downtown apartments. Parking gets creative. We work around it.
In-home ABA therapy for Charleston families. Whether your child was just diagnosed or you've been at this a while, our BCBAs walk you through what's next and verify your insurance before any therapy starts. SC Medicaid, TRICARE, and most private insurance accepted.
Most families find us right after a diagnosis. There's a lot to take in. Insurance authorizations, IEPs, ABA, BCBAs, RBTs, the Autism Care Demonstration, the alphabet of it. Our team walks you through every piece in plain English. We run your insurance the same day you reach out so you know exactly what's covered. We handle the back-and-forth with insurance to advocate for the services your child qualifies for. You focus on your kid.
We work in homes from the peninsula out to Cainhoy.

Avondale, South Windermere, the Drayton Hall corridor. Easy drive across the Ashley from our Goose Creek office. Afternoon and early-evening sessions usually work.
Riverland Terrace, Stiles Point, the Folly Road corridor. James Island County Park is a good spot for outdoor sessions when the weather cooperates.
Maybank Highway corridor and out toward Angel Oak. We do in-home, plus parent coaching by telehealth when the drive doesn't fit a school pickup window.
A short drive over the Wando from our Goose Creek office. We work with both Berkeley County and CCSD-zoned families.
Growing fast and we're already there. If you're new to the neighborhood, call us first. Charleston wait lists for ABA can be long.
Driving to a clinic three or four times a week is a lot to ask of a family, especially in Charleston traffic with a tired kid in the back seat. So we drive to you instead. Your therapist works in the rooms where your child already lives. The kitchen, the play area, the back porch. Skills they practice there are skills they actually keep.
It also lets your BCBA see what's really going on at home: the morning rush before drop-off, the meltdown when a sibling gets back from school, the way your child handles the dog or the doorbell. That context is what makes a treatment plan work in real life.
A typical session is two to four hours of structured, play-based teaching, one on one with your child. Your therapist uses what your child already likes: Magna-Tiles, books, snacks, the family dog. The goals are real-life. Asking for what they want, riding out a transition, getting through a meal at the table.
When an outdoor or community setting helps a specific goal, we can take a session out. Hampton Park, James Island County Park, and the Charleston County Public Library are all options. Otherwise we're in your house.
A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) writes the plan and watches the data. A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) runs the sessions and is the one your child sees most. Both will know your kid's name, their favorite toy, and the thing that always sets them off.
MUSC Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics at Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital is the strongest local option for in-person evaluation. Schedule at (843) 431-2720. Breakwater Center is a good second choice if MUSC's wait is long.
Telehealth providers like As You Are and Prosper Health offer online autism evaluations, often with shorter wait times than a hospital clinic. SC Medicaid covers evaluation via telehealth under EPSDT, and most major insurance plans accept it too. We can point you to options if you'd rather start there.
South Carolina law lets families bring their private ABA team into school. We coordinate with CCSD's Department of Exceptional Children, attend IEP and BIP meetings, and share session data with teachers. (843) 937-6500.
We're TRICARE-certified and familiar with the Autism Care Demonstration process. If you're PCSing in, call before you arrive. We'll run your verification of benefits the same day so you know exactly what's covered.

SC Medicaid covers ABA therapy for eligible children with an autism diagnosis through the SC DHHS ASD program. Hours are based on your child's individual needs and what's authorized by your plan.
The South Carolina Aquarium runs sensory-friendly hours a few times a year, with dimmed lights and quieter crowds. The Children's Museum of the Lowcountry has had similar programming in the past too. Worth checking their event calendars.
Hampton Park on the peninsula has wide, calm walking paths. James Island County Park has space to run, splash pads in season, and is much quieter on weekday mornings than on weekends.
Charleston County Public Library branches run inclusive storytimes for kids who benefit from a slower pace or smaller groups. Worth calling your nearest branch to ask about their schedule.
Lowcountry Autism Foundation hosts local parent meetups and family events. SC Autism Society runs a statewide parent line and resource library. Family Connection of South Carolina does parent-to-parent matching with other families who've been there.
Most families go from first call to active therapy in three to six weeks. The fastest is around three weeks. Six weeks happens when paperwork from outside parties (records, scripts, school documentation) takes time. We run a verification of benefits the same day you reach out, so you'll know exactly what your insurance covers before you commit to anything. If you're still waiting on a diagnosis, we can point you to evaluators around Charleston who often have shorter wait times than a hospital clinic.
Yes. South Carolina law lets families bring their private ABA team into school. Your BCBA can attend IEP and BIP meetings, share session data with the teacher, and translate therapy goals into classroom-friendly language.
Yes. We're TRICARE-certified (out-of-network but TRICARE-approved), which means TRICARE families can use Southcrest and we handle the rest. We work with the Autism Care Demonstration process. If you've just PCSed in, or you know it's coming, call before you start unpacking. We'll run your verification of benefits the same day.
All ages. ABA can start as soon as a child is showing developmental concerns and continue into adolescence and adulthood when clinically appropriate. Call us with your child's age and we'll talk through fit.
Yes. A parent or caregiver needs to be home during sessions. Many families stay in another room and use the time for their own things. We just need an adult on the property and available if something comes up.
As much as we can manage, yes. Consistency matters. Your team usually includes one or two RBTs who run sessions and one BCBA who oversees the plan. If a therapist is out, we'll let you know in advance and try to send someone your child has already met.
It depends on your child. After the initial assessment, your BCBA recommends a number of hours based on what your child needs and what your goals are. Insurance then authorizes some or all of those hours. The right number is whatever the plan calls for, and we'll walk you through it.
