Early intervention is ABA delivered to toddlers and preschoolers, usually between 18 months and 5 years. At this age the brain is forming the foundational skills that everything else builds on: communication, play, attention, regulation. ABA that meets a child here can change a lot, fast.
We use naturalistic, play-based teaching strategies that look more like guided play than formal lessons. Your therapist follows your child's lead and embeds learning into the moments your child cares about. Snack time. The dog. The fascination with stacking cups.
We coordinate with BabyNet (SC's Part C early intervention program for birth to age 3) and your pediatrician. If your child is in or transitioning out of BabyNet, we can pick up where they leave off without losing momentum.
Sessions are usually two to four hours, several days a week, mostly play-based. Your BCBA sets goals around communication, social interaction, daily routines, and play. The work is intensive but it doesn't look intense to your child.
Parent involvement is heavy at this age. You're with your child more than anyone, so we teach you the strategies your therapist uses. Small things like how to prompt a request or how to handle a transition can become tools you use all day, every day.

ABA can start as soon as a child is showing developmental concerns. Many of our early-intervention families have kids between 18 months and 3 years. There's no minimum age that locks you out; if your pediatrician or evaluator is concerned, call us and we'll talk through fit.
BabyNet is South Carolina's Part C early intervention program for kids birth through age 3. Many families use BabyNet services and ABA in parallel, or use BabyNet first and transition to private ABA as their child approaches 3. We coordinate with your BabyNet team so plans stay aligned.
We can still help in some cases, depending on your child's developmental profile and what insurance authorizes. If a diagnosis is in progress, we can point you to in-person evaluators like MUSC or online options like As You Are that often have shorter wait times.
