ABA Therapy for Military Families

We're TRICARE-certified (out-of-network but TRICARE-approved). We work with the Autism Care Demonstration process and know what PCS season feels like. If you're stationed in South Carolina or about to PCS in, call before you arrive. We'll run your benefits the same day.

What it is

TRICARE-certified, ACD-experienced, military-family-aware

TRICARE covers ABA therapy for autism through the Autism Care Demonstration (ACD), a benefit run by the Defense Health Agency. We are TRICARE-certified, which means TRICARE families can use Southcrest as a provider. We are not in TRICARE's network, but the certification lets us deliver ACD services and handle the paperwork end-to-end.

We work with TRICARE East families across South Carolina, including those stationed at Joint Base Charleston (Air Force and Navy), Shaw AFB, Fort Jackson, MCRD Parris Island, and MCAS Beaufort. If you're PCSing in, the goal is to make sure your child's ABA picks back up with as little break as possible.

We've handled enough military families to know the patterns: PCS season uncertainty, the hassle of the EFMP process, the deployment-readjustment cycles. We build the schedule and treatment plan around that reality, not against it.

Inside the program

What to expect

When you reach out, we run your TRICARE benefits the same day. The ACD requires a current autism diagnosis and specific assessments before authorization; we walk you through what's needed and help you get it. If you have records from your previous provider, we coordinate the transfer.

Sessions are in-home, just like any other Southcrest family. We work around the realities of military life: PT schedules, deployments, range time, the fact that one parent might be solo-parenting for months. We're flexible because we have to be.

FAQs

Questions families ask us

Yes. TRICARE covers ABA for autism through the Autism Care Demonstration (ACD), administered by the Defense Health Agency. Coverage requires a current autism diagnosis and specific assessments. We walk you through every step.

Yes. TRICARE requires a referral from your primary care manager (PCM) before ACD services begin. If you don't have one yet, we tell you exactly what to ask for. We've helped many families navigate this.

It depends on how much of your paperwork is already in order. With existing diagnosis and recent records, we can sometimes have authorization moving within your first couple of weeks. Without records, we work in parallel: collecting paperwork while planning the clinical side.

We'll do the warm handoff. We coordinate with your next provider, transfer records, and try to make sure your child doesn't lose continuity. The military lifestyle isn't our families' fault, and we don't make it harder.
