Parent coaching, BCBA supervision, and consultation over video. Telehealth fills the gaps when in-home isn't a fit: schedule conflicts, weather, distance, or specific clinical situations. SC Medicaid covers telehealth ABA under EPSDT.
Telehealth ABA is BCBA-supervised ABA delivered via secure video. It includes parent training, behavior consultation, treatment-plan reviews, and (in specific situations) live observation and coaching of your child's sessions from a distance.
Most South Carolina families use telehealth as a complement to in-home, not a replacement. The BCBA might do the initial assessment over video while we get an RBT scheduled to start in-home sessions. Or a family might use telehealth to keep momentum during a move, an extended illness, or a hurricane week.
South Carolina Medicaid covers ABA delivered via telehealth under the Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment (EPSDT) benefit. Most major private insurance does too.
Sessions happen over a HIPAA-compliant video platform. For parent coaching, you log in at the scheduled time, your BCBA joins, you talk through what's working and what isn't, and you walk away with concrete strategies.
Some telehealth includes live observation of your child during a routine (like a meal or bedtime) with the BCBA giving you in-the-moment coaching. This is especially powerful for behavior chains that don't happen during in-home session windows.

Your RBT starts sessions. Your BCBA supervises and adjusts the plan as your child grows.
Your BCBA is the same person; the screen just removes the drive.
EPSDT explicitly covers telehealth-delivered ABA for eligible kids through age 21.
Schedule conflicts, weather, illness, or a temporary move don't have to mean a pause in clinical support.
